Nick Sirianni on AJ Brown: I want guys to do what puts their minds in the right place

Eagles coach Nick Sirianni made clear Tuesday that he has no problem with wide receiver AJ Brown’s decision to spend time reading while on the bench during games.

Brown was seen reading a book titled “Inner Excellence” during the team’s Wild Card win over the Packers on Sunday, and the moment paid off in book sales as the book reached No. 1 on Amazon’s list. Brown was asked after the game if it was a sign of his frustration on a day when he only had one catch, but Brown said he always reads from the book as a way to center himself during games.

During an appearance on WIP, Sirianni said it was “lazy” to link Brown’s reading habit to discontent, and said he supports players doing whatever they need to do in order to stay mentally focused during matches.

“I Definitely agree “Still,” Sirianni said. “The crazy thing is, he’s been reading this book on the sidelines for a long time. A camera happened to see him this week. Some guys get in between, some guys get in between. AJ reads in between. Whatever these guys need to do to get their minds in a place where they can play With great detail and effort, I absolutely encourage them to do it. I love AJ.”

Brown and the Eagles will return to action against the Rams on Sunday and it appears he will be bringing his book with him on the trip once again.
