A man has been saved from a burning LA house

Retired firefighter Rich Snyder rescued a neighbor from his home of more than 30 years when flames spread to the Pasadena street.

He told the BBC’s Helena Humphrey that he was working on his laptop that evening when he saw the massive fire from his window.

Mr. Snyder quickly evacuated his home and alerted neighbors before staying to fight the blaze with a garden hose.

With the help of a firefighter who was passing by in a van filled with fire retardant, he managed to contain the flames.

In the end, two houses on the street burned down and another suffered damage to its roof.
