“Inner Excellence” becomes a #1 bestseller after AJ Brown reads it on the bench

During Sunday’s game, Eagles wide receiver AJ Brown was spotted on the bench doing something players don’t usually do during games: reading a book. And now that book is the best selling book in the country.

The book Brown was reading was Inner Excellence: Train Your Mind for Outstanding Performance and the Best Life Possible by Jim Murphy. The book is now the #1 bestseller among all books on Amazon.com.

Brown seemed surprised after the game how big a deal his reading habit has become, telling reporters that it’s a standard part of how he keeps his focus during a game.

“It gives me a sense of peace,” Brown said. “That’s the book I read in every game. My teammates call it a recipe. It’s the first time you’ve caught me on camera, but this isn’t the first game. There are a lot of points, a lot of mental parts. For me, this game is mental.”

NFL games are the most popular programs on American television, so it’s no surprise that a book based on an NFL game would top the bestseller list. Brown’s endorsement may not sell as many books as Oprah’s, but he got America talking and buying a previously little-known book.
