Knowing that the Social Security Administration’s baby names database dates back to the 1880s, we decided to take a look at parents’ choices of 100 years ago to see which ones failed and which had staying power.

Below you can find the 25 most popular baby names for boys and girls born in 1925. And while James, William, Elizabeth, and Evelyn are still very popular a century later, others like Mildred, Louis, Ralph, and Doris are not quite as common these days.
