Pattaya, Thailand – Call Invite Akie Iwai from Japan, Friday recorded 5-man 67 to take a two-stroke lead after two rounds of Honda LPGA Thailand on the old course Siam Country Club Pattay.
After opening 62, Iwai had two rounds of 13 below 129.
22-year-old Iwai earned his membership in the LPGA tour after completion in a fifth tie in the final qualification of LPGA last year.
Angel Yin recorded 64 Friday and was in second place. Jedo Thitikul, World no. 2 who turned on Thursday on Thursday, was tied to third place, and after 64.
“I shot today and I let go well. My distance control was good. That’s why I made a lot of birds,” Iwai said.
The event is the first termination of the so-called Asian swing of LPGA before the tour moves to Singapore and China in the next two weeks.
