Baker Mayfield knows during pregame warmups if ‘everything is going to click’

When the Buccaneers click, they can play with anyone and potentially win. For quarterback Baker Mayfield, he knows if he’s going to click before the game even starts.

After his five touchdown drive two weeks ago against the Panthers, I asked Mayfield when he knew everything was going to work out in a given game.

“You can kind of feel it for me before a game, but just the way the balls are coming out of my hand, the way my legs feel,” Mayfield said. “It’s just — I always feel confident about the game plan, but just that routine before the game, all of that, kind of says it’s going to play out on the day.”

We won’t know how Mayfield feels before tonight’s game until it starts. But that’s not the point waking up feels dangerous. The thing is, he feels dangerous when he’s on the field getting ready for the game.
