Patriots announce hiring of Mike Vrabel

It’s official. As we all expected.

Mike Vrabel is the new head coach of the Patriots.

The team announced the move along with a press conference announcement on Monday at 1:00 PM ET.

For now, the team’s statement published on the team’s website says only this: “He’s back! Patriots Hall of Famer Mike Vrabel returns to New England like our 16th^th head coach.”

Vrabel, a Hall of Famer, played for the Patriots from 2001 to 2008, winning three Super Bowls. He has been working as a coach since 2011. This will be his first year working for the Patriots as a coach.

And so, just eight days after Jerod May was fired, the team’s new coach will meet the media for the first time.
