[VLOG] Makabayan bets vow to vote in favor of VP Sara’s conviction if elected to Senate

Some candidates from the left-leaning Makabayan bloc commit to back Sara Duterte’s conviction should they become part of the Senate, the institution that will put her on trial

MANILA, Philippines – Vice President Sara Duterte’s name is not on the 2025 ballot, but her fate will be a campaign issue.

As Senate President Chiz Escudero floats the possibility of an impeachment trial for her happening once a new Congress convenes, the new senators will help 12 others decide whether to convict or acquit the country’s second highest leader.

Some candidates of the left-leaning Makabayan bloc, on the first day of the campaign on Tuesday, February 11, assures the electorate that they will hold her to account.
