Should lifestyle checks cover government officials’ families?


The Judicial and Bar Council asked this question during the public interviews for the position of ombudsman

MANILA, Philippines – Ombudsman applicants said that lifestyle checks on government officials must be done to prevent corruption.

These checks, according to them, may extend even to the families of these officials.

This issue was brought to light amid the government’s crackdown on anomalous flood control projects that involve government officials and private contractors. The Judicial and Bar Council (JBC) asked this question during the public interviews for the position of ombudsman.
