Nascar will award the driver and team with the fastest round in each cup, XFinity and Truck Points race with a bonus point this season.
The award will be known as the Xfinity Fastest Lap Award and will go to the qualifying manager and team in each race.

This award also creates an interesting situation in setting up tracks such as for the upcoming Daytona 500. Will any teams try to run behind and get an aerodynamic benefit to putting a quick shot early in the race?
