Winston-Salem, NC-Bumping, Kloping and Banging was the main liners, along with Chase Elliott on Saturday night, in the return of the Nascar Cup series to Bowman Gray Stadium for the first time since 1971.
Elliott won the first of four heat races on the quarter-mile track and begins Sunday night’s Cook Out collision from the pole.

His race was a rough and tumbling 25-round ratio that had several warnings for incidents, including contact between Kyle Busch and Justin Haley, and even three-wide races at some point. Josh Berry and Austin Dillon also entangled in that race. They then had a short civil discussion.
“It seemed like our race at the time was getting a little rough and the reaction of the crowd reflected it,” Elliott said of the sold -out track.
The next two heat races – won by Chris Buescher and Denny Hamlin – were much smoother, but things turned into the final heat race of the night.
John Hunter Nemechek moved Ryan Preece to the final heat and Preece repaid him by hitting him at the back and sending Nemecheek’s car in the safer barrier and suffering damage to the judge. NASCAR will allow the team to fix the garage at 10am on Sunday – four hours early – the car.
Nemechek, by a team spokesman, did not want to talk to the media afterwards while watching his team about his car.
Also in the race, Cole Custer and AJ Allmendner contacted, which led to the turning of Allmender after Custer was pressed into the wall. They talked briefly after the race.

By starting on the pole for the collision, Elliott will be in a good place to avoid the beating and clapping what happened in Saturday’s heat races.
“It’s going to be difficult to win from the third or fourth row,” Elliott said. “I think the first few rows definitely have a big advantage on the rest of the field. Obviously, anything can happen … and I am well aware of it.
“But I just think in a normal circumstance of people who don’t completely crash, or whatever – yes, I would definitely want to be on the first few rows, and fortunately we are. We will try to utilize it. “
Ryan Blaney was unable to progress in his heat after the collision, but he was insured the last starting position because he finished the highest in points last year among the 19 cars that did not place a place in the collision by the heat racing have not earned. Those cars will qualify two places in the collision in the last chance at about 6pm and Sunday. The Clash, 200 Green flag rounds, is scheduled for 20:00 and Sunday.
