Winners, losers of Watkins Glen Race won by Shane van Gisbergen


Watkins Glen, NY – a look at the winners and losers of Sunday’s cup -edge Watkins Glen.

Winners

Shane from Gisbergen – Won his fourth consecutive roadway victory and won by 11.1 seconds – the second largest victory in the cup history of Watkins Glen. He becomes the third driver in the series of history to win four consecutive races. He is the first driver to win four road track races in a season.

Trackhouse Racing – The organization ended all three of its cars for the first time in the top -10 in the same race. Shane van Gisbergen won, Daniel Suarez was seventh and Ross Chastain was 10th place.

Christopher Bell – He finished second. This is his eighth top three final in 24 races this season. Bell finished in the top five in four of the five Road track races this season, including a win in Cota earlier this year.

Chris Buescher – He won a stage and finished third and retained his hold on the final play -off match with two races in the usual season.

William Byron – His fourth place came a week after his Iowa victory, which for the first time in Charlotte and Nashville for the first time has been on Charlotte and Nashville for the first time.

Chase Briscoe – His finish of fifth place gives him four top five results in the last five races.

Losers

Kyle Larson – A mechanical problem sent him to the garage early in the race. He returned and ended in the 39 car field. Larson finished the 30th or worse this season in four of the five away races.

Josh Berry – His outcome of 35th place is the seventh time in the last 11 races he finished 22nd or worse. He has placed outside the top 25 in four of the five Roads races this season.

You gibbs – He finished 33rd and placed outside the top -20 in three consecutive races. He had a frustrating day, which was clear in a radio exchange with racing strategist Chris Gabehart, who is also the competition director of Joe Gibbs Racing.
