Devin Hani revealed today that the reason he traveled to London for his ring career was to meet Turki Al-Sheikh. “Talk about the next thing.”
Fans have been wondering why the 26-year-old Hany is training in the ring in London, as he has no fights scheduled and is coming off a humiliating loss to Ryan Garcia. It didn’t make sense until now. Devin came hoping to fight on one of his cards and perhaps meet with Turkey Big money.
The recently defeated Hani (31-0, 15 KOs) is looking to fight on one of the cards of the Turkish Riyadh season. However, Al-Sheikh will be looking to make a competitive fight for his career, and that could be a bad thing for Hani as he has shown to be weak in the chin department.
A rematch with Ryan Garcia will take a lot of interest from Hani Turki if he loses to the man of his choice. The fight may still happen, but it will be seen as a joke. Honey would have been ready for the junk yard, considered a booster job, which was never as good as the snarky fans thought.
His best wins were against George Kambossos, Regis Prograis and Vassily Lomachenko. As many know, Hani’s victory over Lomachenko looked like a letdown, but he went on to win a 12-round decision in Las Vegas. Cambosos was just a flawed, underrated, one-hit-wonder who built his career by beating a confused, ring-bound, injured Teofimo Lopez.
“I want to fight everybody. You know I’m not in a fight. I want to fight the biggest fight. I want to fight the best fighters in the world. That’s one of the reasons I’m here. I’m here to meet with the honorable Turki al-Sheikh to talk about what’s next,” he said. Devin Haney said. Media Speaking at his London workout today, he explained why he’s headed to the UK to perform.
“Turkey offered Theo more money than he did. He rejected it for whatever reason and that’s what ended the fight. It is still a fight that can be fought. One thing I focus on is that I want to fight on a level playing field with everyone.
“I want to be a spokesperson for clean boxing because I’ve really experienced it. I’ve experienced cheating and what it’s like to fight someone on the pads,” Hani said about his fight with Ryan Garcia. “I want to clean the sport of boxing. So my focus is now.”
