All-Pro voting names Lamar Jackson as the best player

Perhaps one of the biggest questions of the 2024 regular season has been answered.

If the MVP race actually comes down to Bills quarterback Josh Allen and Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, the winner is Lamar.

Evidence comes from All-Pro vote. Jackson received 30 first-place votes. Allen had 18. (The last two went to Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow.)

The MVP vote, like all individual awards, goes to five players. A vote for first place is worth 10 points. The second place holder gets 5 points. A third place vote results in three, a fourth place vote results in two points, and a fifth place vote results in one point.

Thus, Jackson will receive more first place votes than Allen. Which means Jackson will likely win.

It’s possible, in theory, that Eagles running back Saquon Barkley could have outscored them both. However, since he has yet to set the single-season rushing record, that is likely a long shot.

Obviously, it’s Lamar Jackson. For the second year in a row and the third in six seasons.
