Jared Allen was wearing a cowboy hat to incite him in the Football Camel Hall on Saturday, a reference to his festive work in the calf after each bag. Unfortunately, it was without a hat.
Allen grew up on a horse farm in northern California, and when he was eight years old, Allen told his father, Ron Allen, about his dream to play in the American Football Association. He did this 12 seasons ago with The Chief (2004-07), Vikings (2008-13), Bears (2014-15) and Panthers (2015).
Allen, 43, retired, with 136 professional bags and four options from the All-PRO team.
Among those who thanked him was his parents and his wife in his speech for about 14 minutes. He told his father, who was his presenter, that “your constant faith gave me confidence in myself to achieve greatness.”
Allen, public relations and marketing at the college, focuses his speech on the concept of “selling” why.
People always ask: How did you get here? ” Allen said. “Why were you better than others? … why” is what makes you different. It is your long game. It causes you to take all the work steps necessary to achieve your goal. Why can it be summarized in three things – fear, respect and pursuit of greatness.
The best you can be.
Allen ended his speech asking everyone to find “why.”
“Look for the reason,” Allen said. “Dreams of a big dream and always follow greatness in everything you do.”
