40 ways to hide some of your least favorite parts of your home

The pictures really speak for themselves here! Yes, these are four glass drawers I bought on clearance at Anthropologie 15 years ago, and were transformed in an afternoon with this gold leaf!

After constant use in my bedroom and then in my kitchen for a long time, its original gold-plated surfaces have definitely seen better days. I shopped around for other handles but couldn’t find any that I liked as much… and certainly not four for $20, which This gold leaf set is on Amazon Costs. (Well, technically it’s copper and some other metal, but it looks gold, which is what matters.)

IMO it’s a real value: for the price, you get the adhesive size, 25 sheets of foil and sealant. Just add a few of them Cheap foam brushes And some Cheap craft paint brushes And you have everything you need! It took about four hours of watching the Olympics to perfect these grips after cleaning off the old paint. I only used a small portion of the set, so there’s plenty of leftovers for more projects!

Simply paint the adhesive on with a foam brush, give it about two minutes to get sticky, then carefully place the gold foil piece on the object, gently using a paint brush to blend the foil into all the nooks and crannies – very satisfying. It’s okay if there are some wrinkles or blemishes, because that’s how gold foil is supposed to look. Allow to dry, remove excess foil, and cover any cracks or holes with the same process. Once you’re satisfied, cover your item with sealant, let it dry, and you’re all set!
