2025 Rookie of the Year Candidates for Nascar Cup, XFinity, Truck Series


Nascar unveiled the drivers approved from January 27 to be approved in the Cup, Xfinity and Craftsman Truck Series for Rookie of the Year in 2025.

Cup of series

Shane of Gisbergen (No. 88 Trackhouse Racing)

Riley Herbst (No. 35 23xi Racing)

Connor Zilisch makes his cup debut on March 2 at Circuit of the Americas.

The 35-year-old from Gisbergen won in his Cup debut in the first Chicago Street race in 2023. He started 14 Career Cup. Last season, Van Gisbergen won three races in the XFinity series and finished 12th in points.

Herbst (25) started eight career cups. His best cup finish was ninth in Talladega in October 2023. He started 175 XFINITY and achieved three wins, including two last season. Herbst finished seventh in the points in Xfinity last year.

The 18-year-old makes his Xfinity series on Saturday at Watkins Glen at USA Network.

KVAPIL, 21, is the boy for 2003 truck champion Travis Kvapil. Carson Kvapil won the Zmax Cars tour in 2022 and ’23 the ZMAX Cars tour. He started nine Xfinity last year and finished a best second in Dover.

Zilisch, 18, is a developmental driver for Trackhouse Racing. He will make his cup debut for that team on March 2 at Circuit of the Americas. He won his XFinity debut last year and took the checkered flag at Watkins Glen. Zilisch started four Xfinity.

The 18-year-old Sawalich won the Arca Menards East Series Championship in 2023 and ’24. He has won 13 wins in 27 Arca since 2023, and won nine of 14 races for Joe Gibbs Racing last year. He started three Xfinity, and won the pole in last year’s season final in Phoenix.

Gray, 19, ran 13 xfinity races for Joe Gibbs Racing last season. He placed a third third place on Richmond in his series debut.

Dye, 21, started 12 career XFINITY, including 10 last year. He finished a career-high seventh on Indianapolis. Dye is second in the Arca Menards series in 2022.

The 24-year-old Eckes finished a best third in the truck series last year. He has nine wins in the career. He started 114 career truck. He did not make a start in the Xfinity series.

Sanchez, 23, won the 2022 Arca Menards Series Championship. He finished a best fifth in the Truck series in the career last year and won two races. He started eight Xfinity, with a best seventh career in Martinsville.

Thompson, 23, finished a best 16th in the points in the Truck series last year. He started 70 series. Thompson performed two XFinity races this past fall with a best end point of 20th place on Talladega for Sam Hunt Racing.

The actor known for his role in ‘Malcolm in the Middle’ makes his return to racing by competing in Saturday’s Arca race at Daytona.

The 25-year-old Breater finished fourth in the Arca Menards series last year. She started four career truck with the best end point of the 15th. This is the highest finish for a female woman in their truck range.

Ruggiero, 20, had seven top five finishes in 10 Arca Menards series last year. He ended the runner -up at Phoenix, Dover and Toledo.

Mosack, 26, has begun since 2022 28 XFinity series. He started 11 career truck. His best truck finish came to Homestead last fall when he finished third for Spire Motorsports.

Perez de Lara, 19, won the Arca Menards Series Championship last season after finishing second in 2023. He started two trucks, and ended a best ninth in his series last year at Gateway for Spire Motorsports.

The 39 -year -old star of the “Malcolm in the Middle” show started four trucks last year. His best result was the 29th in Kansas. He hosted the full Arca Menards Series schedule in 2023, which placed fourth place in the points, but last year only had four trucks, two XFinity and two Arca Menards series races.
